The S&P TD-MIXVENT series of in-line duct fans have been specially designed to maximize the airflow performance with minimal noise levels within the smallest and most compact of housing sizes. Are these fans rated for kitchen range hood exhaust? Also, can these be used in both kitchens and bathrooms?
A. The Soler and Palau TD-150 can be used in a kitchen range hood and can also be used in a bathroom. When installed in a range hood, Soler and Palau recommend installing the fan at least 5' above the cooking surface and also recommend using a grease filter in conjunction with the fan for maximum product life and performance.

I am looking at a TD-150 to replace a DB2 duct fan used for crawl space ventilation. Only need to move about 200cf of air, and it is on a timer to run 1 hour three times a day. Would this be a sutable replacement in a 6" duct? The fans used for Radon are all vertical mounts, whereas this one can be horizontal--which is what I need.

I've read that these units do NOT come with a power cord and need to be purchased separately. Is this true, and if so what do I need to make this plug&play?

I need to control cfm from a minimum of 160 cfm up to 290+- . Can this be accomplisehd with this unit? also , drawing heat from ceiling down approx 18' to floor. Any thoughts appreciated. Require 3 units for the job. accomplished using this unit

Works well
The documentation is paltry, but it's a pretty straight forward device. The two sides come off for mounting, and one side has a baffle in it, which I didn't realize till it was too late. I had to assemble it each way and evaluate which one was more quiet.
It's mounted above a suspended ceiling and is quiet enough to not disturb anyone or even make anyone raise their voice (when wired on the high speed). You can hear a low "whirr" in the background, similar to perhaps a central A/C.

What I expected
I had another 6" mushroom fan for air filtration that was twice as strong, metal, and twice as much cost. I was looking for a fan that wasn't as powerful, loud or as costly and took a shot at this one. I was however concerned with it being "reinforced PVC". As it turns out, while installing it I dropped it and the edge of it chipped about 1/2" of the edge. I repaired and installed it anyway. I found it was very quiet and suited my needs perfectly. I liked that it had 2 speeds, of which I wired it for the stronger of the 2. The CFM worked out to be just right for my needs and it was easy to install. The metal fan I wound up putting a dimmer switch on so I could add some flexibility to it so it would suit my needs.
Yes, I'd recommend this fan to anyone that has to move air quietly and cost effectively. In fact I expect to order another one soon. I called and asked a few questions about the fan before ordering and got help quickly. Shipping was quick as well. It arrived 3 days early!

Great retrofit for kitchen hood, slow shipping
My existing hood's fan was really loud (even with a new motor). I replaced it with this remotely-mounted unit. Such a retrofit is, however, interdisciplinary: HVAC, electrical, electronics. It may be beyond many do-it-yourselfers.
This unit is high quality and easy to install. It's made of very heavy duty plastic, yet plastic doesn't weigh so much, which makes installation easier.
It is moderately noisy, but as a remotely mounted unit, it is much quieter for the cook.
I initially expected quick shipping from Chico, CA, just a couple hundred miles away. However, it took forever to arrive. It turns out that when ventingdirect.com got my order, they just called (SLOWLY called) the manufacturer in Florida, and had it drop shipped from there. Why did buy from a California company? I paid California sales tax for something shipped from Florida. Buy this unit from ventingdirect.com only if you are close to Florida, and definitely not if you're in California.

Blower excellenct but be carefull of controls
Quality product, easy to install but required 6" to 7" vent pipe adapers. Variable speed control caused a hum at low speed and had to change to a 4 step "quiet" control which worked perfectly.

Excellent Purchase
I had high expectations for this fan: very quiet and move lots of air. It shattered them. I can't hear it running it is so quiet. Also very simple to install.
I like it so much I just bought another one for our second bathroom.

Excellent fan
Purchased this fan for venting near my bedroom so it needed to be quiet - pleased to say this fan is very quiet, only thing you can hear is the sound of the air moving. It also moves a lot of air through static pressure and is much more powerful than the cheap duct booster fan, worth every dime.
