The patented Cartridge is engineered to last for an average of 7000 uses and to receive waste through drain holes. Waste passes through an immiscible layer of biodegradable Sealant, continues through a Trap System, and flows over a Baffle to prevent the loss of Sealant. A Discharge Tube in the housing directs the flow of waste into the building drain system. The Cartridge is designed as a replaceable component when its function has been exhausted.

  • if a waerless urinal is used infrequently do you have odor problems from losing a trap seal?

    A. This is a good question, as waterless, no-flush urinals are somewhat counter-intuitive. The answer: if the sealing liquid (Oil) were to be removed or pass through the system, then a smell would be present. The Oil is held within the cartridge sold with this unit. Assuming that the cartridge is maintained to specs, then no smell will be present regardless of how often the urinal is used.

Waterless Urinal, Vitreous China Wall Mount Fixture 4 5 2 2
Good concept, tricky installation This is my second unit. The first one was butchered by a so-called plumber who failed to read the installation instructions and who also failed to properly rough-in the drain. So he removed parts of the urinal drain so the unit would fit resulting in a leak. If this is a new installation/new construction be sure you have a 6 (5.5) inch cavity in the wall. The plastic drain pipe permanently attached to the urinal CANNOT be shortened to accommodate a tight fit. I ended up during the rough in on the second unit because it was a tight fit and I did not trust the plumber to do it properly. In the end I had to directly supervise the installation because I had carefully read the instructions and the plumber was (again!!!) doing the installation incorrectly. So be sure your plumber has previous experience with waterless urinals. Ceramic glaze on the unit is below average. It has a couple of rough places/bubbles on the surface. These have begun to stain. I may have to replace again if this continues. April 19, 2011
Best product in my new bathroom The big companies could not deliver this product, so I went to the urinal specialists. Besides being a wonderful product, it becomes a unique and curious addition to a private home; silent, economical and easy to take care of. October 23, 2010
