18 Questions from the Community
Is this lock weather proof and protected against rain etc, since the plan would be to use for external entrance?
How do I replace the battery?
A. To replace the battery on the Schlage FE595-CAM-ACC, you need to remove the inside handle. To do that remove the 2 screws above and below the handle. After that the 9V battery will be exposed and ready to replace. After you've swapped batteries reinstall the handle and make sure lock is straight before tightening the screws.
Can I install this on a 2-1/4 thick door?
Is their a 5" backset extension available for this?
How do you know when the battery is getting low before it doesn't work
A. After a valid code has been entered, a series of eight high/low beeps sound and the Schlage button flashes red. The lock operates as normal immediately following the alerts. The battery should be replaced as soon as possible to ensure optimal performance.
Is the Schlage FE595-CAM-ACC fire rated?
What happened if you loss your pc (passcode) number?
A. To restore factory settings on the FE595-CAM-ACC you can just disconnect the battery. Press Schlage, reconnect the battery, and then Hold the Schlage button.
For other programming instructions see page 5 of the instruction manual below:
Do this lock come in black finish,if so where can I purchase it?
Can you change out and use other Schlage lever styles with this item?
What should the battery life be?
How many codes can add?
Is there a way or a different lock that will prevent small children from opening the door from the inside?
A. The Schlage FE595-CAM-ACC - I would suggest installing a slide bar on the upper portion of the door that the tall people can reach, but small hands cannot. Either that or there are products out there for "child proofing" your home that you can install over door knobs that children have a difficult time opening.
How many codes can be programmed?
i have an existing door knob and dead bolt above that. can i replace the door knob with this schlage lock and not have it interfere with the exising dead bolt?
Does this lock use Schlage's SecureKey?
Can you de-activate a code once you are done with it?
A. Enter the programming code and wait for the three beeps and for the "Schlage" button to turn orange. Press the "Schlage" button and the number 2 on the keypad. Press the four-digit user code you want to delete and wait for the three beeps. Press the same user code again and wait for the long beep.
Can I key this to an existing Copper Creek key?
I see this lock is recommended for exterior use. Is there and electronic lock that is recommended for exterior use. If under a porch or breezeway and no direct rain would it be OK?

Pewter), 621 (Distressed Nickel), 622 (Matte Black), 716 (Aged Bronze)
Care Guidelines: Lacquered or clear-coated finishes should be wiped with a soft, damp cloth. A mile soap may be lightly used if very dirty. Care Guidelines: Wipe with a little vegetable oil on a soft cloth. Too much oil may leave a residue to come off on the hands. Household detergents and mild abrasive powder may be used to restore the high metal color without seriously affecting the original compound of the metal. Then rub with a paste wax.
(Bright Chrome), 626
Care Guidelines: Wipe with a soft damp cloth. A high grade chrome polish may be used according to directions to clean and restore the original shine or satin finish.
