1 Question from the Community

  • The handing refers to whatever side the hinges are on if you are walking up to the door from the outside. If the hinges are on the left (from the outside) it is a left handed door.

If the door opens to the left, is Left Handle correct?

    A. The handing refers to whatever side the hinges are on if you are walking up to the door from the outside. If the hinges are on the left (from the outside) it is a left handed door.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice handleset, but template was wrong Easy install ... after I learned (too late) not to use the template for the placement of the lower hole. Now I have to patch that extra hole (was about 2" too high). I would recommend this handleset, but advise purchaser to sight-locate the position for the lower hole.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Alignment is the key! The handle was the matching component to the digital lock that was already on my "want" list. The lock was installed first followed by the handle. The handle was very easy to install but I really didn't do much more than shove everything into place and close the door. A couple of days later, the latch would get hung inside the latching mechanism when the door was opened from the outside. It took a little digging, but I finally found a Q&A section on the Schlage website that had the answer. My handle was not well aligned with the latch inside the door and was binding. A simple readjustment of the handle and everything was happy again. I will say that I am more impressed with the lock than I was the handle. When you open the door from the outside using the the thumb push, it does not feel very smooth, or at least as smoothe as I think a door handle of this quality and price should feel. I replaced a QuickSet lock and handle with this Schlage because the old handle did not weather well over time. That being said, the operation of the old handle was smoother than the new one. Just a little food for thought.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed Looks nice and sturdy upon opening the package, but a week later the interior lever comes off in my hand when I open the door!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Attractive The only thing I didn't like was that you need to attach the bottom with a screw that goes through the door and you can see it from the inside. I couldn't install by myself because I didn't have the right drill for the screw. Screw isn't bad but i wish it weren't there. Otherwise beautiful.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lockset Iwas very happy with the product. My only complaint would be that they asked for a key code to match your other locks and it did not match the other locks!

Finish Care and Cleaning of External Trim

Finishes: 505 (PVD Bright Brass), 605 (Bright Brass), 609 (Antique Brass), 619 (Satin Nickel), 620 (Antique Pewter), 621 (Distressed Nickel), 622 (Matte Black), 716 (Aged Bronze)
Care Guidelines: Lacquered or clear-coated finishes should be wiped with a soft, damp cloth. A mile soap may be lightly used if very dirty. Particular care should be taken to avoid paint smears, thinners and strong cleaning agents as they will quickly destroy the protective coatings and subject the finished to rapid oxidation and discoloration. Initial care for finishes requires only periodic cleaning with mild non-abrasive soap and light buffing with a soft cloth.

Finish: 613 (Oil Rubbed Bronze)
Care Guidelines: Wipe with a little vegetable oil on a soft cloth. Too much oil may leave a residue to come off on the hands. Household detergents and mild abrasive powder may be used to restore the high metal color without seriously affecting the original compound of the metal. Then rub with a paste wax.

Finishes: 625 (Bright Chrome), 626 (Satin Chrome)
Care Guidelines: Wipe with a soft damp cloth. A high grade chrome polish may be used according to directions to clean and restore the original shine or satin finish.
