  • A door latch is the tubular "tongue" mechanism that engages the doors jamb to prevent open/closing of the door without turning the handle. For your faceplate, look at the groove cut into the edge of the door for the faceplate. If it has rounded corners, you will need a round corner latch. Similarly, square corners on your groove will need a square corner latch. If there is no groove, you need a drive-in latch that does not come with a faceplate at all.

Product Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Terrific update for a minimal price I purchased these handles for my 20-year-old house to eliminate the bright brass. What a difference! Now the house looks very current and smart, and the cost was relatively small. I would recommend these handles to anyone who wants to make a big difference in a quick, inexpensive way.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best design for the job I just remolded my home and replaced all doors and looked for handlesets locally. Due the the cost for something that was comparable, I went on-line. When I found this Schlage handle set, because of the quality and warranty that Schlage offers and the price, this handle set was exactly what I was looking for. I purchased privacy, passage and dummy sets. They were super easy to install and look and work great. I absolutly recommend this product to everyone. I have given several of my friends Handlesets.com website so they can purchase products.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly what I wanted These look great, were simple to install. Not the most sturdy handles, but were the look I wanted and won't take a lot of abuse as there are only 2 adults in household.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great contemporary door lever This is a great contemporary door lever that is easy to install.
Date published: 2012-03-01
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Difficult to Open Door Like a previous reviewer said, this lever handle is difficult to use--you literally have to turn the handle a full 90 degrees (perpendicular to floor) in order to open the door -- really a strain on your wrist. The look is only so-so. I purchased it ONLY because Schlage is able to accommodate a 5"+ inset. This is not the cheapest modern handle out there. Try Sure-Loc "Juneau" -- beautiful, reasonably priced, and truly modern.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great and fast service great product. the only thing that I don't like abou it is that you have to push the lever all the way down like almost 270 degrees or 6 oclock on the clock to open the door i would like them to work a little bit earlier so you don't have to push them all the way down.

Finish Care and Cleaning of External Trim

Finishes: 505 (PVD Bright Brass), 605 (Bright Brass), 609 (Antique Brass), 619 (Satin Nickel), 620 (Antique Pewter), 621 (Distressed Nickel), 622 (Matte Black), 716 (Aged Bronze)
Care Guidelines: Lacquered or clear-coated finishes should be wiped with a soft, damp cloth. A mile soap may be lightly used if very dirty. Particular care should be taken to avoid paint smears, thinners and strong cleaning agents as they will quickly destroy the protective coatings and subject the finished to rapid oxidation and discoloration. Initial care for finishes requires only periodic cleaning with mild non-abrasive soap and light buffing with a soft cloth.

Finish: 613 (Oil Rubbed Bronze)
Care Guidelines: Wipe with a little vegetable oil on a soft cloth. Too much oil may leave a residue to come off on the hands. Household detergents and mild abrasive powder may be used to restore the high metal color without seriously affecting the original compound of the metal. Then rub with a paste wax.

Finishes: 625 (Bright Chrome), 626 (Satin Chrome)
Care Guidelines: Wipe with a soft damp cloth. A high grade chrome polish may be used according to directions to clean and restore the original shine or satin finish.
