11 Questions from the Community
-
Can this unit be installed in a shower stall?
A. The Progress Lighting P6952TG heat lamp can be used in a bathroom but because it is only rated for damp locations and not wet locations, it is not supposed to be installed in areas with direct water contact, such as over a shower.
-
can this product be used to take the chill out a bathroom. And can it be installed in an already finished ceiling.
A. The Progress Lighting P6952TG is a great choice for use of a Heat Lamp in your Bathroom. It is UL rated for Damp locations and the 250w bulb will do well to take off the chill. Also, this light is designed in such a way that it does make for an easy and clean installation even in a finished ceiling.
-
Can a regular bulb be put in this unit?
A. The Progress Lighting P6952TG Shower Lighting Heat Lamp does have a medium based socket so a standard incandescent bulb can be installed but it is not recommended for use with this unit. Also, part of the heating component of the unit is the 250W R40 Heater bulb that it is meant to be used with, using a different bulb would lose most of the heating function.
-
What are the installation requirements for the P6952TG in an insulated ceiling?
-
How many volts does this light use?
-
What is the maximum wattage this can take?
-
Is there more detail on installation?
-
If this heat/light cannot be installed over shower, where can it be installed in the bathroom?
A. The issue here is the UL rating. This fixture is rated for a "damp" location, which would be the bathroom in general. Over the shower would be considered a "wet" location due to the constant moisture and humidity. Most customers install this just outside their shower enclosure so it heats upon entry and exit.
