I want 2 sconces for my Living room for both sides of a huge mirror. I do not want light only directed up, nor only directed down. I want light both ways. Is this sconce open at both the top and bottom to allow light in both directions?

I am primarily interested in a downlight for over some stairs. Can this light be mounted upside down so that the bulb is facing downward?

Great inexpensive lamp
We love our sconce. We bought one about 3 years ago and our son broke it playing football on the stairs, and we were thrilled to find a very inexpensive replacement at this website. When the lamp arrived broken, customer service was excellent and replaced it immediately without any hassles. Thank you.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE these sconces
Bought three for hallway. They are beautiful and fit the other light fixtures in the house. Walls are taupe-choc color and the light these cast is so very pretty. During day, they look very elegant.

very nice product
We bought these sconces to match the rest of our dining room lighting put in by the builder. It is very solidly built and looks nice on the wall. The only thing that would have been nice is to have a "left" and "right" sconce since the pattern is not really reversible. Either way, we are very happy with the purchase from Lighting Direct. beautiful but finish not as expected
This is a beautiful fixture and I am keeping the two
I purchased, however the description of the iron
finish as "golden bronze" is a litte misleading.
It is actually more of a tortoise or crackle pattern of separate gold and bronze designs.
