The interior knob is locked using a turn button.

  • SmartKey cylinders also feature a stainless steel side locking bar, racks and pins for increased strength and security.

  • Includes Standard Round Corner Strike Plate Part Number 83796 (Strike Plate is on Door Jamb). For Square Corner Strike Plate See Product: Kwikset 83437. For a T-Strike Plate See: Kwikset 83028.
  • Bump guard: Patented side locking bar technology replaces a traditions pin & tumbler design to protect against lock bumping.

  • I am uncertain of what type of a locking mechanism is used for the inside of the door.

    A. For the Kwikset 740L-S you will use a key to lock/unlock on the outside and the turn knob to lock/unlock from the inside.

  • Does Kwikset make a knob set that does not have a turn knob on the inside knob and as if so, does it have Smart Key system?

    A. The Kwikset 740L-S does not come with a keyed interior. They would have a thumb turn on the inside.

Warranties cover the original residential user of Kwikset Products against defects in material and workmanship as long as the original user occupies the residential premises upon which the product was originally installed. This warranty DOES NOT COVER abused or misused products or non-commercial products used in commercial applications.

If a covered defect occurs, email or call 1- 800-327-LOCK (5625) for further assistance. A finish deterioration occurring from the use of paints, solvents or other chemicals is not a defect in the finish and is not covered by this warranty.
