  • Does this lock allow you to remove the key after locking from the inside?

    A. Yes you can remove the key after locking from the interior. You would lock it from the inside of your home the same way you would from the exterior of your home. The main purpose of a double cylinder deadbolt is for doors that are near windows. This prevents burglars from breaking the window and simply reaching in to unlock the door. They would not be able to do so without the key.

  • How does this deadbolt differ from from the 665?

    A. This is the Smart Key version which allows you to re-key the lock yourself! Just insert the original key along with the included Smart Key tool and then insert your new key.

  • Can you send more info on the smart key and how it works, and what would be the best double deadbolt for school classrooms? What would be the cost for a dead bolt with a room key, and the master key.

    A. The smart key feature offers a lock that can be re-keyed in about 30 seconds. There is a special tool that comes with the key that allows you to change the key to a new key! Unfortunatly, a smart key can not be mastered.

    A. Yes, this can be left in the unlocked position. You will need to use the key on both sides to lock and unlock the dead bolt.

  • Would I be able to buy 3 of these and make them all use the same key with the smart key?

    A. Yes, all can be keyed the same.

  • Can these be keyed to an existing door handle lock set that is not a Smartkey lock set? My friend needs deadbolts on her doors and the existing door handle sets use Kwikset keys. I want to key the deadbolts to the same key as the door handles, but the door handle sets are not Smartkey locks, just regular locksets. Will it work?

    A. The Kwikset 665-S can be keyed alike to non-smart key cylinders.

  • Pulled the key out along with set key before it was changed. Now neither key works. How can I remedy this?

    A. The Kwikset 665-S will need to be taken to a locksmith to reset the pins unfortunately.

A great purchase I purchased this lockset for my new doors. I chose the double cylinder because half of my door is glass and feel that it is more secure. I appreciate that it is a double cylinder with the smart-key technology because my locksmith said this option was not available. Now I feel secure in my home and know that if I need to change my locks, I can do it myself and not pay to have locks rekeyed! Thanks for making this possible. June 10, 2011
Effective & Inexpensive We very much like the look and price of this (satin nickel) double-cylinder lock. I used 1/2 of one set to compliment the other half of exterior entry door handle set I installed. Then I used another complete set on a newly installed exterior French door for added security. For the price and look, I would definitely purchase again. November 6, 2010

Warranties cover the original residential user of Kwikset Products against defects in material and workmanship as long as the original user occupies the residential premises upon which the product was originally installed. This warranty DOES NOT COVER abused or misused products or non-commercial products used in commercial applications.
