Advantages of Stainless Steel over Enameled Cast Iron or Fireclay:

  • Very durable; will never chip or crack
  • Dishes usually don't break when dropped during dish washing
  • Due to relative weights, stainless steel is generally much easier (and less expensive) to install
  • Nonporous; resists bacteria
  • Neutral color fits into almost any décor - matches stainless steel appliances

Product Technologies / Benefits:

  • Extra Thick, 16 Gauge Stainless Steel: Short of paying thousands of dollars, 16 gauge is as thick as sinks come (22% thicker than 18 gauge; 36% thicker than 20 gauge). Thicker steel means a stronger sink (hence the lifetime warranty) while also offering a richer and more robust appearance to the finish that is easily discernible from the white-washed, cheap look of thinner sinks.
  • Premium Grade T-304 Stainless Steel: There are two primary types of stainless steel in the market: T-409 and the higher quality T-304. The difference lies in chromium and nickel contents; T-409 with 11% and .5% respectively, T-304 with 18% and 10%. When added to steel, these two metals prevent oxidation and rust by neutralizing sodium chloride (salt) – a common element in everyday kitchens. While cheaper sinks use T-409, Kraus sinks boast T-304, further lending to the lifetime warranty.
  • Sound Insulated: Sound insulated steel is commonly only thought of in the automobile industry. There, auto manufacturers use spray-on “Stone Guard” insulation to provide for a quieter ride and protect the steel. Borrowing this technology and adding to it, Kraus sinks use Stone Guard insulation, sprayed over rubber sound dampening pads to create a noticeably lower-tone and overall quieter kitchen sink. It also protects your cabinet from underside condensation drips.
  • Included Dish Grids (Basin Racks) and Basket Strainers (Drains): It’s a wonder why dish grids aren’t included with all sinks; they serve a valuable role. Not only do they virtually eliminate scratches, they allow the sink to properly drain, preventing sink scum and protecting your cutlery. As with all Kraus sinks, this sink includes the stainless steel sink grids along with the basket strainers you’ll need for installation.
  • Heavily Certified: Kraus has gone to great lengths to be able to provide you, the homeowner, the rest-easy satisfaction knowing that your sink is certified and listed by all the major product testing boards in the U.S. and Canada. This means that this sink is deemed safe to use and that it meets all applicable building codes. Certifications and listings include: UPC, cUPC, CSA, IAPMO, ANSI and SCC.

Special Note:

  • This kitchen sink is available as a kitchen combo with a number of faucet choices. Like their sinks, Kraus kitchen faucets have gained tremendous momentum within the kitchen and bath industry and are highly regarded for their quality, durability, and meaningful innovation. If you are considering a purchase of this sink and also need a new faucet, we urge you to consider the kitchen combos; they truly are a deal. Product Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 1st Class First let's say, I am a builders who specializes in high end construction, that being said, I've used, and seen almost every sink out there, Franke, Kohler, Blanco. etc... When it came time for me to change out my own counter tops, it was time to change the sink too. I researched all of the brands I'm used to buying for my clients, but all roads led to the Kraus 33" undermount. I have never seen this sink in person, but all the descriptions on this site led me to check it out. Let me tell you, this sink is QUALITY... More than half the cost of all the sinks I typically use, which made me a little leary. The finish is perfect, the heavy guage, of the stainless steel, the accessories that come with the sink, makes this a real find. Installation was perfect. I will be using this product for future projects!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great sink -- useful size We've had this sink for about a year now. We purchased it for our new home and the builder had it put in for us. This is a seriously deep sink -- almost like a restaurant kitchen! Very happy with the purchase -- especially when compared to prices and quality of comparable sinks. The strainer basket is like a small bowl -- catches lots of "stuff" when cleaning off dishes and whatnot. We have some big dishes (pizza pans, deep stock pots, etc.) and even though its a split bowl sink it swallows them up and makes cleaning up much easier. I can clean our 18" aluminum pizza pans diagonally in one side of the sink, no problem... so nice. The packaging was serious business. Foam outside and foam blocks inside the sinks, too! And all wrapped up in a nifty drawstring bag, with a free hand towel to boot! :) Only drawback might be because its so deep you might not be able to store your garbage can under your sink ... I guess that depends on installation. But keep that in mind. We've put in a few scuffs, but its still a quality sink. Its pretty thick and not noisy at all. At least I don't think its noisy. The coating and stuff on the outside makes a difference to keep the noise down. I checked it with a magnet and it is NOT magnetic -- its a good quality stainless steel. If you're wondering if you should buy this without seeing it ... buy it! You'll be happy with what you get.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice sink Good sink. I love the depth of it. The nice straight lines and edges are right for me. Unfortunately, it easily scratches and that is such a bummer!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice Sink I really like this sink. My husband wanted a 16 gauge because they are better than an 18 gauge. The granite fabricator said it is a really nice professional sink and most people just get the cheapest kind. I love how deep it is and big it is with the 50/50 proportion. I didn't realize how easy stainless steel sinks scratches. It is my first stainless steel sink. My mom says it scratches just like any other stainless steel. I washed a pan in the sink the first day I got it and it made a little scratch in the finish. I now use the guards the sink comes with. My only minor complaint is that the sink bottom is more flat than my other sink and is just a bit harder to get all the water or food to go down the drain. However I am getting use to the differences and I really love the look of it and how big it is and that is why I left it as a 5 star because I would still buy it again knowing everything.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One can only hope! As a decorator dependent upon excellent reviews, I am always leery of reality meeting expectations. This product far exceeded my customer's wishes. If she's happy, I'm happy. You won't be disappointed with the finish on this 16 gauge SS sink. Would order again!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from beautifully made This sink is very nicely made, finished, etc. It seems like it should have cost a lot more. One thing to watch out for: it comes with two basket strainers, nicely designed, one has a basket to trap food particles. But since they don't match, the effect is that one is about 1/4" deeper than the other. You want the drain pipes to be level or downhill. I was able to work it out, and you probably will, too. The rim isn't absolutely flat but it was close enough for my odd application (epoxied it to Hardibacker and tiled over it with 1/2" granite tile, sealed with silicone.) Overall, a beautiful product that adds class to our new house.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Noisy! Love the style and depth of this sink but - This is not a 'quiet' sink. There is a loud, 'tinny' sound when water, dishes, etc. hit the sides or bottom of the sink. Sound baffling pads and insulation are minimal, at best. Kraus not helpful when I called to rectify the situation.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from High Quality Sink I had been looking at sinks for a while, not happy with the run of the mill offerings at the big box stores, when I found I shopped around, checked prices, read reviews, and finally settled on this sink. It is fantastic. The accessories that come with the sink are wonderful, from the drain basket to the gasket-like plug. I'm so happy with the sink. It is of exceptional quality, and hand crafted workmanship.
