Does the top knob control the temperature and the bottom knob control the volume of water? Please explain the function of the two separate knobs.

I am remodeling to have a fixed rain shower, a hand shower, and tub spout set up. I would like to use each function individually but would also like to turn on both the fixed rain shower and the hand shower at the same time. Can I use this trim with the Quattro 3-way diverter(04232) to do that?
A. The Hansgrohe 04230 has volume control for 1 outlet so you can only switch between the two applications. If you want to turn them on at the same time, you would have one control to turn the water on a volume control for each application.

Plastic! what are they thinking?
I don't know about their showers, but mine needs an occasional scrubbing. The small lever and the cover plate are made of the flimsiest of plastics, with only a hint of chrome coating applied, that would not hold up to even a gentle scrub. Considering that a significant amount of questions asked by customers of this site are about whether a particular part is made of plastic or not, it would seem sensible to include this important information to spare us the hassle of returning this piece of junk.
