Are the slide bar and fitting plastic or brass?

What additional parts/pieces do I need in order for complete installation?
A. You will need a wall elbow for the hose to connect to and a shower trim (handle) to turn the water on and off. If you are replacing an exsisting shower head you can connect the shower hose to the shower arm and then you wont need the elbow.

I want to use this with the Grohe 27 007 Multi Head Shower Head. What kind of rough-in valve/supply plumbing will be required to use in tandem with the multi head shower or separately?
A. The rough-in valve will be more specific to the shower trim, for the hand shower you would want a diverter valve to divert the water the hand shower. You could look at the 19 272 for the trim and the valve will come be sold separately.

Do I need a wall unoin to install this?
A. The Grohe 28 917 Hand Shower requires the use of a Wall Union such as the Grohe 28 627 Wall Supply Elbow or the Grohe 28 459 Movario Wall Supply Elbow.

I have an existing shower head and want to add a hand held shower. Can I switch off between the two? Do I do that at the connector or on the hand held shower device its self?
A. The Grohe 28 917 can be added to an existing shower system with the addition of a diverter. You can either install a simple shower arm diverter like the Grohe 28 036 or add a single handle diverter into your plumbing lines like the Grohe 19 494.

A. The Grohe 28 917 is a wall mounted hand shower and would need a supply elbow to connect to the plumbing and a valve and handle trim to activate the water flow. Any ceiling mounted rain shower head will be appropriate as this fixture is an independent fixture.

Just got and used for the first time and my first impression was that it was just ok. Slide works fine and locks good and can tilt and lock good. The pressure output is just ok and nothing special. I used all the different spay patterns and will probably never use them again.. I got this mostly for my girl friend who didn't always want to get her hair wet and to be able to shave legs near shower seat. The only problem with this is that there is no place to put shower head unless you lay it on floor because you cant reach the head when you sit. Grohe makes a secondary holder that takes the place of the 28 629 elbow and works great to hold the shower head by seat. faucet direct does not sell this and in the the Grohe site.

Good shower
Got this for my son's bathtub shower head and it works fine. The only downside is you can't change the tilt angle.

Problematic slide bar
This product is attractive, but neither my builder nor I can figure out how to tighten the slide bar so that it does not move between the mounting brackets. Every time I attempt to adjust the height of the shower head, the bar moves as well. Grohe technical support was not helpful in resolving this problem.

awesome
I hesitated to spend so much on a shower head as it was maybe ten times the price of the ones i usually buy but i was tired of the poor water pressure and frequent need for replacement. this shower is worth every penny. the finish is very nice i got the stainless, it makes the most of our low water pressure, feels very durable but time will tell. it was very easy to install.

Just what we wanted
I am 5' tall so the existing shower pretty much hit me in the head. This one is perfect for me and my husband to use...high for him low for me. Also great for rinsing the shower when cleaning by using as a hand tool.

Mechanical Warranty
A Limited Lifetime Warranty is provided on all mechanical parts to be free from manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship under normal use for as long as the original purchaser owns their home.
General Finish Warranty
A 5-Year Warranty is provided on all GROHE product finishes (except the InfinityFinishTM) to the original purchaser against manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship.
InfinityFinishTM
A Lifetime Warranty is provided on all GROHE products with the InfinityFinish to the original purchaser against manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship. At its option, GROHE will repair or replace any part or finish that proves to be defective in material and/or workmanship under normal installation, use and service.
