Does this product control flow and temperature?
-
What is the difference between a pressure balance valve and a thermostatic valve
A. A thermostatic valve is a valve that blends hot water (stored at temperatures high enough to kill bacteria) with cold water to ensure constant, safe outlet temperatures preventing scalding. A pressure balanced shower valve provides variable water pressure to a shower to prevent fluctuations in water temperature. It is designed to maintain a constant water temperature despite pressure fluctuations in the hot and/or cold water supply such as when someone flushes the toilet. Side note with a thermostatic trim you need a volume control trim and valve.

-
Can I set a certain water temperature on this valve?
A. The Grohe 19 457 is a pressure balance trim. It turns the water on/off and you set the temperature everytime. To "set it and forget it" you would need a thermostatic trim / valve but they also require volume control trim / valve to turn water on/off
