60-Inch End Mount Shower Riser with Enclosure For Use with Wall Tapped or Rim Mount Soaking Tubs 1 5 1 1
DON'T buy Eliz. Classics!!! These shower enclosures for clawfoot tubs all look alike, even though there are 15 supposed manufacturers, and they are all from Taiwan, which normally would be good... I don't think they have clawfoot tubs in Taiwan... anyway, the problems are engineering: the shower riser leaked at every joint, even thought it looked strong and beautifully chromed. The way the enclosure is connected, all the joints sag, and it looks like something thrown together by slackers. The U-shaped rods fit into end caps on the ceiling bracket, but don't go THROUGH the bracket, so they sag no matter how tight you screw the hold-down screws. The same thing on the side where the shower riser goes through it. The better design is as Randolph Morris does it, and Restoration Bath, who sell an oval shower ring which has 3-4 ceiling brackets, and does not have a pass-through shower riser pipe intersecting it. The two pieces of their oval have sleeves which fit inside both ends of the half-ovals, so the whole thing is a unified piece which does not sag or bend. It is also crafted from 1" pipe rather than 1/2" or 3/4". If you buy the Elizabethan Classics design, or one like it, prepare for a series of disappointments or a long time re-engineering it to work! I've never seen a product so nice to look at and such a disaster to build and use! AVOID THIS SHOWER ENCLOSURE!!! January 19, 2011
