Product Reviews

Rated 4 out of 5 by from works well but with limits Use: 1BR, 1bath vacation condo with dishwasher and laundry. Our first ever try of tankless. Impression: works as advertised. Less than expected training curve (from using a tank hw). Sized correctly for our condo where our lowest (january) incoming water temp is 60F. Install: easy install in place of our conventional HW heater. added a second 40A wire run and breaker. Our box was only 6 feet away. Copper tube replumb and added hot/cold shutoff and TP valve. Any handyman can handle this install. Looks nice and gained much floor space - hint: put it up high to gain space below . Build: heaters are a high temp plastic while rest of tubing is copper. 3/4 inch connections mate well with existing copper lines, however, not a lot of space to torque these connections - use care and patience. Do not use liquid thread seal! Factory preset temp worked fine. Living with it: Very pleased with performance in our luxury shower and in all other uses. Showers (rainhead, 2.5 gpm) are comfortable and endless. Need to retrain family about running dishwasher or washer during showers (you only have 2.5 to 3 gpm total). We have not had problems with changes in water temp during use. That is a biggee! Requires 0.7 gpm to kick on - thats not a gusher but a bit more of a stream than you might be used to. Anything less and the unit does not come on. Wish that were lower gpm. Too Noisy! internal relays snap on/off with each use with noticeable click/bang and the unit hums while in use. While liveable it is very noticeable - this downgrades my rating. On other hand, it is reassuring (listen for the click and see 0.7 gpm comment above) knowing the unit has turned on while waiting at a distant sink faucet! I'd like to see any of these units integrate a drip pan into their cabinet design. Something will drip at some point in its use life. I would buy this unit again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't use in places where temperature goes to zero I bought a smaller unit to provide hot water to an over-garage bedroom. I live in Maine. I dranied the unit before winter, and when turning it on the next sprint, water spurted out from numerous leaks. After talking to eemax customer service about a warranty replacement. the they told me that for colder climate areas, the unit should be disconnected and stored over winter, ...like a garden hose. There is absolutely no documentation on completely draining the unit over winter, or the fact that you should disconnect the unit. If you live in Flordia or San Diego, maybe go it. Everywhere else should avoid eemax heaters.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth the money This is a great device to have in you home. This is our second tankless water heater. We are very pleased with this one. The only thing that drives me crazy is when the thing pulls in the breakers to heat the water. Then kicks them out once you turn the water off.
