What's the difference between the various "grades" of locks? Grade 1 vs grade 2 for example?

A. The ANSI/BHMA standards set forth different product grades for door hardware products. These product grades are defined by levels of performance benchmarks in each applicable standard. The purpose of each is to help identify the quality and durability of lock sets through a series of operational and security tests. The lower the number, the better the grade. Grade 1 items outperformed Grade 2. Grade 1 locks are typically used in a commercial application.
