Does the Delta 72172 pop up drain assembly include an over flow device with matching cover?
A. The Delta 72173 does not include an overflow device with cover. This particular one would work well on a sink with an overflow that does not need a cover. If you need something like that I recommend going with a Kohler K-4061 for the overflow cap & maybe a K-7124-A. Hope this helps!

Many new faucets do not have levers for pop up drain assemblies....are the push pop drain assemblies better mechanisms
A. It's probably a matter of opinion, but they are definately the newest in drain assemblies. I like them better, as the faucet is easier to clean with the pesky lift rod assembly getting in the way of things... plus... you don't have to worry about whether your faucet is too far back against the backsplash for the pop up to be easily accessible.

More and more new faucets have no lever for pop up drain assemblies. Are the push pop up drain assemblies now more popular and overall better mechanisms?
A. Thank you for your question. Yes, the newer style drains are leaning more towards push pop-up drains because it provides a more contemporary / modern style. Trip lever drains can also jam and leak while the push pop-up drains are easier to install, service and have a longer shelf life.
