Product Technologies / Benefits:
- FloWise Turbine Technology: As the 2012 EPA WaterSense partner of the year, American Standard shower faucets are acclaimed for saving water without sacrificing performance. Through the use of patented turbine technology, which pressurizes and spins the water into a satisfying, warm, and invigorating spray, FloWise showers save 40% more water than other brands/models. When costs of heated water are factored in, these showers easily pay for themselves throughout the life of their use.
- Lifetime warranty: As an American company, American Standard showers are built tough. Their products live longer in one place than most people do. Drip-free ceramic disc valves, high-grade lead-free brass alloys, and turbine shower heads cables name just a few of the features which make American Standard shower components the industry’s longest lasting. To back this up, all American Standard showers are covered under a lifetime warranty.
- Indestructible Finishes: Through employing only the best finishing practices, such as physical vapor deposition, American Standard faucet finishes are some of the strongest in the industry. When the finish is actually incorporated into the faucet, rather than a coating on the outside, the result is a flawless appearance that eliminates tarnishing, pitting, and peeling while hiding scratches. For this reason, American Standard faucet finishes are fully covered under the lifetime warranty.

11 Questions from the Community
-
what else do i need with this to use in new shower
A. This does not include the Shower Valve Trim or valve. The Valve is the product that actually mixes your hot and cold water behind the wall and then diverts the water into this shower system. The Shower Valve Trim is the decorative cover and handle that you use to turn the water Off / On and Hot / Cold.
-
Can the shower sprayer be taken off the bar and be used as a handheld shower?
-
Can this be used as a handheld shower or is permanently attached to the bar?
-
What does the "PVD" after the Polished Brass finish stand for? The two PVD finishes are the only ones that have "no image available".
-
How long is the shower hose?
-
Is the hose covered with flexable metal or just exposed tubing?
-
Can this be used in a tub? What other hardware is needed besides tub spout?
A. Yes, the American Standard 1662.604 can be used over a tub if desired. There are a couple different ways to set up this system. A single handle trim and valve can be used to operate the tub spout. Then a diverter handle trim and valve will divert the water between the hand shower and tub spout.
-
Does the shower sprayer "tilt" up or down when in a fixed position on the bar?
-
Why does the detail say 25" slide bar and the spec sheet show 21 5/8"?
A. The American Standard 1662.604 has a slide bar that is 23-5/8" in total length, we will get that information corrected on our site. The 21-5/8" dimension refers to the center to center measurement for the slide bar. Let me know if you need anything else.
-
Is the entire unit metal?
-
How do you turn it on and off?
A. The American Standard 1662.604 is just an outlet and does not include a mixing valve to turn on and off. It would need to be paired with a shower system or pressure balanced valve and trim like the American Standard T430.500 and it's valve.
