Can the 1583.470 drain be used with the american std. tub 2083.202? For the 2083.202 tub you recommend the 1501.170 drain which I don't like due to the manual chain mechanism for the drain.

not happy
this draining system is poor to say the least. the spring return is just a hair trap and the set up is next to impossible. the water wieght wouldnt alow the tub to drain, needs a master plummer. my plummer recomended a pop up. so thats what i went with and ate the very pricey drain that they told me was manditory for that tub.

Good product, bad instructions
This is your standard overflow and drain assembly. Good quality product with no defects. Only issue is that the instructions for my tub were incorrect and caused me to cut the overflow tube too short costing me another $50 to get a replacement.

Well made
I purchsed this for my American Standard whirlpool/air tub. It works well. I only wish that the pop up waste would open more so the tub would drain faster. Other than that, the items looks and works well.

Returned this product as our contractor discovered after demolition that the builder used PVC and not brass.

Poor product
Purchased this waste to match with the American Standard Serin tub we purchased. Needed something in brushed nickel. Horribly designed product - the spring arm inside the overflow can only be adjusted by completely unscrewing the overflow plate. The arm iteslf adjusts on a spring clip which can easily become pushed or release inside the overflow. My biggest issue is the lack of detail in the documentation for the adjustment dimensions - nothing online anywhere for our tub - you basically have to guess to make it work. Even the plumber we hired said he would never touch one again - buy something else.

Great Look
This "American Standard, Tub Drain" is beautiful as well as functional. In order to open or close the tub drain, this model has a large brass knob that you turn instead of the little "flip lever device".
Overall, an excellently designed & well built product that I am sure will last till the end of my days, anyway.
