  • I've noticed that some dealers indicate pedestal only; does that mean it doesn't have the drain & connection to the floor or .... thanks.

    A. Thank you for your question. Pedestal sinks have a column-like base (the pedestal) with a basin mounted on top. Separating the pedestal sink into two pieces makes it easier to move and install. Also, it is easier to fabricate. No water supply pipes come up through the entire length of the pedestal section (i.e., up through the floor). By the same token, the waste water does not flow out through the bottom of the pedestal. Each of these flow through the adjoining wall. The basin is usually attached to the wall with a metal cleat, meaning that much of the weight is borne by the wall.

  • What is the difference between vitreous china and fireclay?

    A. Fireclay,or ceramic, sinks have a compostition very similar to vitreous china. They have a smooth, non-porous surface that won't rust, fade, or discolor. Fireclay can be plain, painted, or sculpted presenting a variety of design options. Vitreous china sinks have a high gloss, stain resistant surface. It comes in a wide variety of colors finishes. Vitreous China and Porcelain materials are completely vitrified when fired and become completely impermeable making them very resolute when it comes to staining or damage.
