What is the difference between a 3 wall alcove tub and a recessed tub?
A. There is no difference. A recessed is a tub that has a decorative finish on one side only, and surrounded by three walls. The apron, or skirting, may not be included and must be ordered separately. It is also referred to as a three wall alcove.

what is the difference between enameled and americast?
A. On the American Standard 0133.017, Americast is a material comparable to Cast Iron, Americast is a lightweight, durable alternative to cast iron, giving you the strength of cast iron, without the weight and added difficulty of installation. "Enameled" referrs to a cast iron product. Enameled is the type of material on the outside of the tub, for example, a tub would be enameled cast iron, enameled steel, or enameled americast.

Is there supposed to be a styrofoam pad underneath the tub? There is a sticker on the tub saying to not remove the pad, but no pad came with with the tub.

One of the questions listed addresses the styrofoam pad. The answer given says there is no styrofoam pad yet the installation intructions also refer to this pad. Please advise.

Can this tub be installed on a slab and can it be used with mirrored shower doors?
A. Yes, The American Standard 0133.017 can be installed on a slab as long as it is properly prepared for draining. You may also use mirrored doors. However, we always recommend confirming with a building professional that an item is a good fit for your set-up.
